ECHO Housing of Evansville, IN submitted a proposal to construct a pocket park in the Lucas Place II community which is permanent housing for previously homeless veterans. Seeing that mental health is equally as important as physical health, this pocket park will provide a space for residing veterans to congregate and socialize with other veterans with similar pasts. They currently do not have anywhere to go and this would not only improve their mental health, but also their physical health and well being.
This will be a community project and we are looking for volunteers to join us plant flowers, do yard work, and possibly plant a garden. If interested, please contact us. Park construction is likely to occur in the fall of 2019, but exact project dates are still yet to be determined.
Special thank you to Pollux Systems, Inc., The Home Depot, and Master Gardeners of Evansville, IN for supporting this project.
