United Caring Services is a homeless shelter and services agency in Evansville, IN that provides people in need access to crisis stabilization services through several different programs. Their day shelter serves 155 homeless or near-homeless people a day providing three meals, 7-days a week, clothing, hygiene, items, public restrooms and showers, a mailing address, and free of charge laundry services. After a recent renovation, they wanted to bring the laundry facility back onsite to the day shelter. The JD Sheth Foundation donated the money to help them purchase three new washing machines and three new dryers for their facility. Two washers and two dryers have been installed in their day shelter. The third set was installed in their Diversion Center, which should be up and running in late 2021. This Center will provide front line intervention to help divert people who are feeling overwhelmed due to substance use and/or co-occurring mental illness away from unnecessary hospital emergency room visits, EMS uses, or the criminal justice systems toward the help and support they need in recovery.
